Cheap Wardrobes

I suppose strictly speaking cheap wardrobes doesn't really infer any suggestion of quality. Perhaps value is a better word than cheap. I'm sure you could go to your local rubbish tip and get all manor of things cheap but do they offer a value?

In this article I've looked at a few wardrobes, one cheap from a source like Tesco. I just picked one at random a Two Door Wardrobe.

Finest Malabar 2 door Wardrobe, Dark stain, Direct Link Their Description is as follows:-
Colonial style, this is 2 door wardrobe is part of the Tesco Finest range (not so sure about that). Made from wood and with a dark stain finish this stylish wardrobe has great storage with 1 shelf and a double hanging rail. This wardrobe also has metal handles and with an antique metal finish for added style. It is flat packed for a home assembly.
It's not what they but what they don't say that worries me! Made from wood, what type of wood? MDF that's wood, not exactly great but it is wood!

Price: £244.19 (as at July 2009)

Lets look at an another example taken from the other end of the spectrum namely Heals Furniture and their Meridian Wardrobe. Direct Link
The Meridian Wardrobe is part of the Meridian bedroom furniture range, a collection of exceptionally crafted pieces in a walnut solid and veneers. Meridian wardrobe has elegant bow-fronted doors, incorporating 4 internal drawers and a hanging rail.
The description is a bit nicer but I was feeling a bit uncomfortable with the term veneer, I almost fell of my chair when I saw the price!

Price: £1,495 (as at July 2009)

When I read that I did a double take! HOW MUCH, ok when shopping there I must remember to bend over, they've taken me every other way!

Finally lets take a look at the middle ground, there are quite a few companies now selling high quality furniture but don't have fancy shops with posh sales assistants as overheads to cover.

Devonshire Dark Stain Oak Wardrobe from Right Price Furniture.

Pretty long description this one but here is a section of it:-
The Devonshire Dark Solid Oak range is good quality, fully assembled, contemporary style furniture made of solid oak and presented in an attractive dark wood finish.
Features that demonstrate the quality of this furniture include the use of dovetail joints in drawer construction and the use of solid wood tongue and groove panelling to drawer bases and cabinet backs.
Price: £523 (July 2009)

Aha that's more like it solid oak they have loads of detailed shots on their site here is just one pretty much no hiding the quality of that!
